Children's parties at Bapchild & Tonge Village Hall

We've run a party here, so this is what we found rather than what we'd guess. It's a spacious hall with a high pitched wooden ceiling, which gives the lightshow beams plenty of room to travel.

What the hall is like for a disco

The smoke machine is fine here
Worth knowing in advance, because it's a question that often only comes up on the day. We ran smoke at Bapchild without any problem. Smoke is what makes the lightshow beams visible in the air rather than just spots on a wall, so it's a useful thing to have confirmed before you plan anything around it.
Plenty of room
There's space for tables down one side and a proper dancefloor in the middle, without anyone having to shift furniture mid-party to make room for games.
Daylight through the side windows
The windows run down one wall with blinds rather than full blackout, but with the hall lights off the room goes reasonably dark — dark enough for a glow disco, which is not true of every hall. A later slot in winter is darker still if your timing is flexible, but it isn't something you need to plan around here.
Parking on site
There's a car park at the hall, which makes load-in straightforward and means guests aren't hunting for spaces on the road.

Which parties suit this hall

All three work here. It's spacious enough for the running-about games a costume party needs, and with the hall lights off it goes reasonably dark — which is the thing a neon glow disco actually depends on, and the reason not every hall suits one.

Costume character parties →
Children roughly 3 to 8, and especially good for a child who has one character they love above all others. Works in a hall or at home.
Neon glow discos →
Ages 5 and up, where children are old enough to enjoy the spectacle. Works best in a room you can get reasonably dark — a hall with blinds or an evening slot is ideal.
Magic disco parties →
Ages 4 to 7 is the sweet spot — old enough to follow a trick, young enough to be properly amazed by it. It's a disco first, so nobody has to sit still for long.
